As an emerging field, digital humanities seeks to transform the conditions of academic labor and pedagogy, as well as the tools and subjects of humanistic inquiry and analysis.

In addition, digital humanities is also constantly subject to transformation from within, from people who want to redefine the field to those who want to define what ‘counts’ as DH.  One particular strain of transformation questions whether the digital humanities is truly forward thinking, or whether it just replicates the conditions of privilege and representation that already exist in the academy.  This section explores these trends of transformation.
